CBA student turns into a Lawmaker in PMC

Last September 13, 2014, a representative student leader from College of Business and Accountancy attended 3rd Philippine Model Congress (PMC) held at Philippine Senate Building.

Eric Vincent Yumul, a student taking up Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Legal Management and officer of student organization “Juris Orbis”, attended the said event. He is also the National Executive Officer in the Alliance of Legal Management Association of the Philippines (ALMAP), Inc which is considered as the second highest position by rank.

Last year, Yumul was the Senuior Associate Vice President for Sociopolitical Relations, the first time a student from the university and from Pampanga to take a national position in the organization.

PMC is the country’s premier government simulation program that allows student leaders with strong sense of civic responsibility to engage in open debates, caucuses, and plenary sessions in Congress. Moreover, lik the previous PMC’s, the current year’s PMC ran for two days to provide delegates ample time to submit original bills, give speeches in favor or against certain stands, gather support amongst other delegates for the creation of resolutions, and network with other leaders through the various sessions.

The event was endorsed by the Philippine Senate, the Department of Education, and the Commission on Higher Education and modeled after conferences hosted by various international universities. The PMC is a collaborative effort of Filipino college students aimed at training the country’s future leaders and inspiring them to enter public service.
