CEA Bigay Puso 2015

On 12 January 2015, twenty nine (29) faculty and non-teaching personnel and 90 CEA students from different organizations, including the CSC-CEA, trekked, crossed river and climbed mountains, for about 14.4 km in all, just to reach the 60 pupils of Calapi Elementary School in Brgy. Calapi Negrito, Mabalacat, Pampanga for the annual "BigayPuso" of the College of Engineering & Architecture. With full force, effort, and creativity, everyone had their share of accomplishing the following activities for the Aeta pupils:

  • Mural painting on classrooms
  • Setting-up of mini-library and activity area
  • New years' gift giving (grocery packs and slippers) celebration for the pupils
  • Games and Lunch salo-salo

Since the event was held two days before the visit of Pope Francis to the Philippines, the CEA community finds the event as a fitting welcome for his coming. Our charismatic Pope said, “We must restore hope to young people, help the old, be open to the future, spread love. Be poor among the poor. We need to include the excluded and preach peace.“ And so we say to him, our CEA Bigay Puso 2015 is a testament that CEA family will always be one with him in spreading love, restoring hope for the young people and including the excluded.

As the CSCB-CEA representative, Engr. Gina Tumang has also this to say: “My heart is still astounded with so much joy and love because of the sense of fulfillment and heart-warming realizations, and feedbacks from the CEA participants and most especially from the Calapi Negrito community. And I share this happiness with all the people who helped in making the activities possible. I always feel the sincerity of everyone, the faculty/staff and all student leaders and members of different CEA organizations, everytime we do such difficult task just to serve our less fortunate brethren. All the efforts, hard work, support and participation are very much appreciated. Support also from our generous donors, both faculty/ntp and students, are sincerely acknowledged. And special thanks to our inspiration, our dear Pope Francis, for teaching us to be more compassionate and loving. The sweet smile of the Aeta kids was our welcoming present to our beloved Pope. May we all be continuously blessed with God's overflowing grace!”
