HAU STUDENT LEADER ADJUDGED NAT’L FINALIST FOR JOSE RIZAL MODEL STUDENT SEARCH

Ms. Helen Mae S. Moreno, a senior Teacher Education student of HAU, was proclaimed among the Top 20 National Finalists in the Annual Search for the Jose Rizal Model Students of the Philippines (JRMS) by the Order of the Knights of Rizal last December 29, 2015 in commemoration of the 119th anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal's martyrdom.

JRMS recognizes outstanding students who "best epitomize the qualities of academic excellence and student leadership of our National Hero and Martyr as well as emulate lofty ideals, high principles, civic-mindedness and courageous nationalism".

Ms. Moreno, a true blue Angelite since high school graduated Valedictorian in her batch, is proven among her peers and her teachers as one who best exemplifies what the Order of the Knights of Rizal is looking for. She is an academic achiever (expecting to graduate Summa Cum Laude this school year), a community development advocate, an excellent public speaker, volunteer peer mediator trainer and a community researcher and has represented HAU in various competitions and conferences both within and outside the province of Pampanga.

HAU is no stranger in this annual search as three of its past alumni have made it to the final round of the search. In 1992, Ms. Nora Salvador (BSEd History Summa Cum Laude) was proclaimed Top One among the national finalists while Ms. Maria Theresa Castro (BSBA Business Management Magna Cum laude) made it to the Top Ten in 1990. In 2014, Mr. Kenneth Pangilinan, a Summa Cum Laude Accountancy graduate, made it to the Top 20 as well.
