SBA students recognized during the 71st Philippine Accountancy Week Celebration

Two BS Accountancy students received accolades from the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) in three separate quizbee events and different venuesas the organization celebrated its National Accountancy Week with this year’s theme “Level Up” from July 16 to 21.


Aarone Jan Manalese, a fifth year BSA student, ranked ninth overallout of the ninety three participants across the country during 9thNational Accounting Quiz Showdown held last July 17 at SGV& Company, Ayala, Makati City; also known as the NAQDOWN.The competition is an annual academic event of the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (NFJPIA) in collaboration with PICPA.


Patrisha Nahveline Cordero, a fourth year BSA student, finished fourth overall during the PICPA EMMC’s Search for Tax Whiz Year 9: Civil Tax Warlast July 19 in Pasig City. This is an annual event hosted by the PIPCA – EMMC in partnership with the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig. The competition is open to all BSA students taking taxation subjects, with topics that cover the National Internal Revenue Taxes under the Tax Code.


On July 20, 2016, Patrisha Nahveline Cordero also finished in third place after a clincher round for Level I during the PICPA Angeles City Chapter Quizbowl held at PGN Building, HAU. PICPA Angeles City Chapter sponsored the event that was separated into two levels: Level 1 for 3rd to 4th year students who already finished studying Financial Accounting and Level 2 for 4th year to 5th year students who already finished taking Advanced Accounting and Taxation subjects. More than five schools attended the quizbee.
