HAU CHORALE BAGS GOLD AWARD IN FUKUSHIMA, JAPAN

“Once again the Angelic Voices reached the Heaven”


The Prefecture of Fukushima, known as the “Kingdom of Choirs” in Japan, which has a big population of music fans and award-winning choirs, awarded Holy Angel University Chorale as GOLD winner in the recently concluded 10th Fukushima Vocal Ensemble Competition 2017 with the theme “Inspiring singing voices, Resonating to the true skies”. The five-day festival was held last March 17-21, 2017 with choirs from Japan and other countries competing first in their respective categories (I, II, III)followed by the Grand Prix round where the category winners competed against each other.


The Holy Angel University Chorale which represented the Philippines as well as the Province of Pampanga, won the gold prize in the top level category III where 43 choirs tried to outdo one another. There were a total of 127 choirs participating in the competition.


The HAU Chorale performed “Stars” composed by Eriks Esenvalds, “Gloria, Laus et Honor” by Jude Edgard Balsamo, “Pamugun” composed by Francisco F. Feliciano and “Kaisa isa Niyan” composed by Nilo Alcala before a formidable board of jurors composed of music experts, composers and conductors from different countries.
