THE Association of Catholic Universities of the Philippines (ACUP) will hold its 2018 national conference with the theme, "The Role of Catholic Universities in Strengthening the Filipino Families Toward Nation-Building: A Response to Amoris Laetitia," on January 29-31 at Angeles City's Holy Angel University (HAU).

The said three-day conference, is co-hosted by Saint Louis University, Baguio and Saint Mary's University, Nueva Vizcaya.

Dr. Luis Maria Calingo, HAU president and ACUP board member, will give the opening remarks, to be followed by the message of Rev. Fr. Marcelo Manimtim, CM, ACUP's president. Later, Bishop Pablo Virgilio David, D.D., will give the keynote address to about 180 participants from different universities in the country.

Archbishop Socrates Villegas, D.D., will give a talk during the conference's last day on the pastoral response to the challenge of Amoris Laetitia, meaning joy of love, which is a post-synodal apostolic exhortation by Pope Francis addressing the pastoral care of families.

Among the topics to be covered are the challenges of Amoris Laetitia to the government, the family, the media and business, and the youth in promoting family values; the Filipino family today from the perspectives of an anthropologist, a psychologist, and a sociologist; sharing of best pastoral methods and practices; and expression of commitment to the family through the arts, among others.

Previous to the main conference's activities, a religious tour of heritage churches in Pampanga will be conducted.
