National Conference on IT Education held in CDO

Capitol University, Cagayan de Oro City, the Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators (PSITE) held the annual National Conference on IT education (NCITE) 2009 from October 21 to 23. The conference was a way of reaching out to all IT educators in the Philippines and to share their best practices in the field. It is also a form of networking and socialization among different schools and universities.


One of the topics presented was Research Capability Building focused on IT researches being problem-based, requiring the use of technology and validation of solution, and creation of new knowledge. On the other hand, Computer Science researches should be problem-based, investigates creation of new knowledge, and improves existing solutions. It includes projects without a database; contribute knowledge thru algorithm, experts systems, and systems on the computing side.


Several authors participated and shared their research paper to the groups. Some of the relevant titles are Real Time Monitoring of water Turbidity using Image Sequential Analysis, A stochastic modeling of the optimum cycle time of selected intersections in CDO Traffic, Capturing the Dynamics of Pedestrian Traffic Using a machine vision system, Data Signatures for Traffic Data Analysis, and Real Time License plate Classification & Binarization.


The event was participated by IT educators, administrators and professionals from all over the Philippines. CICT-HAU was represented by the Program Chair Ms. Jannet T. Redoban.
