HAU-CICT Retains Center of Development (COD) in IT Education Award

Last November 23, 2010, members of the Technical Panel for IT Education and office of the Programs and Standards of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) conducted a “midterm monitoring and benchmarking of Centers of Excellence and Centers of Development for IT Education” to determine the current state of COEs and CODs, evaluate their progress in terms of instructional quality, research and extension and gather data from these schools which will serve as initial benchmark data for next year’s monitoring.


The members of the Technical Panel are Ms. Nancy Flores, Dean of the College of Computer Studies and Information Technology, University of the Cordilleras and Engr. Alexander Ybasco, Dean of the College of Computer Engineering, Asia Pacific College. Both these institutions have been identified as Centers of Excellence for IT education. The CHED representatives are: Mr. Edgar Cepe and Ms. Remedios Talingdan (Office of Programs and Standards, CHED Central Office) and Mr. John Wesley Calagui, CHED RO III IT Programs Supervisor.


After conducting an ocular of the IT facilities and going over the accomplishment reports of the College, the team recommended that the College retains it Center of Development in IT Education Award and may apply for Center of Excellence evaluation on June 2011.
