Math Proficiency Program at Rafael Lazatin Memorial High School: A Literacy Outreach Program of the General Engineering Department

Faculty of the General Engineering Department and student-members of SAGE, an association of general engineering students, conducted remedial sessions in Mathematics to 1st year high school students of Rafael Lazatin Memorial High School (RLMHS), Balibago, Angeles City, the University’s adopted public high school as part of its 57-75 Program. The program was launched on 27 August 2011 where an orientation was undertaken and the specific activities of the program were presented. A pre-diagnostic examination has also been administered in the first day to serve as the basis for the topics to be tackled and the methodology to be employed. Every Saturday thereafter, remedial sessions were conducted. On 15 October 2011, the academic remediation ended with a post-diagnostic examination administered to assess the effectiveness of the program.
