Summer Community Service Activities

The College of Engineering and Architecture had their annual community service activities last summer. It is their humble way of giving back to others and to the community. Their community outreach program came in two different dates for two school beneficiaries.


Tutorial on Basic Microsoft Excel and Power point Presentation, April 23, 2012


It was a whole day activity given to public elementary teachers of Bamban, Gabaldon Elementary School. The tutorial activity aimed to train public school teachers the basics of excel and power point presentation, which can be useful in their daily school activities. Faculty members from the ECE department facilitated the training for the teachers.

In preparation for the beginning of a new school year, CEA adopted a public school, Don Clemente Dayrit Elementary School, and helped out prepared the class rooms, school area in time for the opening of classes. Faulty electrical wirings and defective electric fans were fixed, while damaged chairs and other fixtures were repaired. School surroundings were cleaned up for a more sheltered and sanitized environment. Faculty members and students from the CE, EE, ECE & ME Departments took the initiative in making this activity possible.


CEA INDUSTRY IMMERSION PROGRAM


A month long “industry immersion program” was undertaken last April 10 up to May 20, 2012. The immersion took place in three venues; Smart Shirts and Yokohama Tire Philippines Inc., both at Clark Freepost Zone Pampanga, and at the Professional Building, HAU. The program is intended to expose and equip faculty members with the latest trends in the industry practice. Graduation ceremony was held last June 5, 2012 at Casa Nena, for the successful completion of the immersion program. The trainees were awarded with certificate of completion, while their trainors and HRD Officers of the three companies were presented certificates of appreciation. Along with the ceremony is the MOA signing to formalize the “academe-industry partnership.”


The industry immersion program was participated by: Engr. Gerard Cortez, Engr. Melanie Cabrera, and Engr. Rodelzon Tongol (Smart Shirts); Engr. Flaviano Dula and Engr. Ojay Santos (Yokohama); and, Engr. Carol Dungca and Engr. Faustino Castaneda (Professional Bldg)
