Writing Seminar Spearheaded by Communicator’s League

The Communicators League (official organization of Communication Arts students) spearheaded a writing seminar dubbed as “The Power of a Mighty Pen” last August 24, 2012 at the Saint Joseph Hall, Academic Hall.

The speaker of the said forum was Marcelo Santos III, a 21 year old lad who graduated Advertising and Public Relations from Polytechnic University of the Philippines. He is the writer and director of Love Stories on Video which became viral via the net reaching more than 22 million views on Youtube. He is a PGMA Student Leadership and Academic Excellence awardee as well. He will soon release his first book this September.

Santos shared to the audience that writing should be an expression of oneself. He also emphasized the “Eight-Point Story Arc” which are Stasis, Trigger, The quest, Surprise, Critical choice, Climax, Reversal and Resolution.

The students were overwhelmed with the presence of Santos since most of them are enthusiasts of his works.

The audience include Communication Arts, Psychology, IT, Accountancy and Engineering students along with the staff of Angelite. The event was also graced by the Editorial board and staff of the school publications of Angeles City Science High School and Angeles City National High School. This is the first seminar which was opened to other students within the university and some high school institutions.

“This is a way of immersing other students in the field of mass media. Thus, we would want the high school student writers to be oriented on the possible course which they will take”, stated by Gizelle F. Maniago (Comm League President).

Dr. Marga B. Carreon (Dean, CASED), welcomed this new development as well. She showed her untiring support to make the event possible.

The seminar was made possible through the effort of the Comm League Officers and Ms. Leslie S. Manalo.
