Manila Water chief to lecture at HAU

The Holy Angel University Leadership Lecture Series continues this month with the Ayala Corporation’s Managing Director, Virgilio Cervantes Rivera, Jr. as guest speaker.

Rivera will give a lecture entitled Change Management: The Manila Water Company (MWC) Experience on Saturday, September 8, ten o’clock in the morning at the Academic Hall, St. Joseph Building.

Rivera heads the Ayala Corporation’s Manila Water Company, Inc. and is concurrently President of three new Manila Water subsidiaries, namely, the Laguna Water Company, the Boracay Island Water Company, and the Clark Water Company.

It was Rivera who played a key role in expanding Manila Water’s portfolio to other markets, in conducting tariff and price reviews which led to dramatic profitability, in shaping public policy, managing regulatory risks and building strong relationships with stakeholders.

The Manila Water Company is now recognized as one of the most successful water privatization initiatives in the world.

A double-major graduate of the University of Santo Tomas (B.S. Economics and B.A. Behavioral Science), Rivera took up M.S. Economics studies at De La Salle University and finished an Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
