HAU fetes Archbishop with new book

A book containing stories of memorable encounters with Archbishop Paciano Aniceto has been released by the Center for Kapampangan Studies of Holy Angel University to mark his 76th birthday on March 9.

ApuCeto: The Shepherd and His Flock, edited by Robby Tantingco, was launched on March 8 at the University’s Chapel of the Holy Guardian Angel. The first copy of the book was presented to the archbishop by University President Dr. Arlyn S. Villanueva.

Among those who contributed personal anecdotes were Bishop Pablo David, Bishop Roberto Mallari, Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Among Ed Panlilio, journalist Bong Lacson, environmental activist Cecile Yumul, book authors Erli Mendoza and Edna Gueco, Venancio Samson, Fr. Raul de los Santos, Fr. Ric Luzung, and many more.

“Their stories show us the other side of the Archbishop,” Tantingco says. “Everyone knows that he’s a saintly man, fearless, humble and full of charity. What they don’t know are the little, hidden encounters that prove that the public ApuCeto is the same as the private ApuCeto.”

According to Dr. Villanueva, the book is a gift of the HAU academic community to the Archbishop for 20 years of service as the Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees.

Copies of the book are available at the Center for Kapampangan Studies. For inquiries, call 888-8691 local 1312 or email at kapampangancenter@gmail.com, or visit the Center at the Don Juan Building, Holy Angel University, Angeles City.
