MASS TRAINING OF GRADE 9 ARALING PANLIPUNAN TEACHERS ON THE K-12 CURRICULUM IN THE DIVISIONS OF ANGELES CITY, SAN FERNANDO, MABALACAT AND THE PROVINCE OF PAMPANGA

Dr. Isabelita Borres and other Officials of the Department of Education, Teacher-Participants, Ladies and Gentlemen:

Good morning and welcome to the Mass Training of Grade 9 Araling Panlipunan Teachers on the K-12 Basic Education Curriculum. In particular I welcome you, teacher-trainees from the Divisions of Angeles City, City of San Fernando, Mabalacat City, and the Province of Pampanga.

This noble undertaking is now on its third year of partnership between the Department of Education and Holy Angel University. It started in 2012, with the training of Grade 7 English, Science, EP and MAPEH teachers from the Divisions of Tarlac and Zambales, and continued in 2013 with the training of Grade 8 AP and EsP teachers from the same divisions as we have this year. Hopefully, next year, 2015, we will cap the training in Junior High School with the participation of our Grade 10 teachers, followed by Senior High School Grades 11 and 12 in 2016 and 2017, respectively.

The doors of Holy Angel University will always be open to worthy endeavors such as this. We believe in what K-12 stands for, but we also believe that the success of this new curriculum rests heavily on the readiness and competence of the classroom teachers who are at the forefront of its implementation; thus, this training.

This week, let Holy Angel be your second home. Our administrators and faculty members, especially from the College of Arts, Sciences and Education and the High School Department will be more than willing to play the role of a gracious host.

In behalf of the Administration of the University, I wish you a most productive and fruitful training. May the lessons learned during these warm and humid days of Summer 2014 be brought back to your respective classrooms and redound to the maximum benefit of each and every Filipino child entrusted to your care.

Let me end by quoting our University motto: “Laus Deo semper.” Praise be to GOD always.
