Senior Angelians hear PMA Career Talk

Selected fourth year high school students attended the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Career Talk on July 31, 2014. The talk introduced the PMA to the graduating students who would soon choose their course to take up in college. It was held at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the San Francisco de Javier (SFJ) Building.

Maj. Allan Margarata led the delegation from the country’s premiere military training institution. A former Electronics and Communications Engineering student of Holy Angel University, Maj. Margarata relayed his story on how he was able to survive life in the Academy.

The audience made up of students from sections St. Albert, St. Alphonsus, and St. Ambrose eagerly listened to the men in uniform. Cadet 1st Class Gallon, a graduating PMA student, attested to the quality military science instruction held in the Academy.

After their talk, an audio-visual presentation about the Academy’s mission-vision, facilities, and successful alumni was shown. The informative video provided snapshots of how the life of a cadet is within his or her four-year stay inside the Academy. It also portrayed the various areas of training held inside the barracks, namely: character development, academics, military science, and physical training.

The talk was capped with an open forum wherein the curious Angelians asked the guests different questions concerning board and lodging, the honor system, merits and demerits, and career opportunities, among others. The officers wittingly answered each question, to the satisfaction of the inquiring crowd.

The talk forms part of a series that selected PMA personnel and cadets hold annually in an effort to recruit graduating high school students from all over the country to take the scheduled entrance examinations conducted by the PMA in key points of the country.
