LABORATORY/ELEMENTARY SCHOOL LIBRARY

  1. The Library

    The Grade School Library is located at CB-101. Its objectives are to enrich and support the academic programs of the school; to train pupils in the proper use of the library and its resources; and to assist the pupils in their choice of reading materials.

    Monday - Friday 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
    Saturday 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

  4. Library Rules and Regulations
    1. I.D. must be worn at all times. This will be used in all library transactions. No. I.D. No library transactions.
    2. Return borrowed books ON TIME.
    3. Silence must be observed at all times. Pupils who make unnecessary noise in the library will be subjected to disciplinary measures.
    4. Courtesy towards fellow pupils and the library staff should be exercised at all times.
    5. Library users must use the depository counter for bags, folders and other things that cannot be brought inside the library.
    6. Chairs should be pushed back against the table so that it won’t block the movement of others.
    7. Books/Magazines & other reading materials must be returned properly on the shelves after reading or browsing them.
    8. Eating, littering, vandalizing, and playing are not allowed in the library.

  5. Policies in Borrowing and Using Library Materials

    1. Pupils

      Kinder/Prep, Primary,Elementary, Fiction and Circulation Section

      • Pupils may borrow two books for three days.

      • Pupils with overdue books in the library will not be allowed to borrow unless the books are returned.

      • Pupils should report lost books immediately to the librarian. A lost book must be replaced with exactly the same title or related subject field. If a book is damage beyond normal usage, it must be replaced with the same title

      • Books for home use may be reserved for 3 days. Failure to get the book after the reservation period automatically cancels the reservation.

      • Recall letters are sent to pupils with loaned books not returned on due time

      Filipiniana Section

      • All Filipiniana materials are for library-use only. These materials cannot be borrowed for home use.

      Periodicals Section

      • All newspapers, magazines and other periodicals are for library-use only.

      Reference Section

      • All general references such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, atlases, etc. are for library-use only. These materials cannot be borrowed for home use.

      Multimedia/CD-ROM Station

      • Pupils are allowed to use the multimedia/CD-ROM station during recess, lunch break and dismissal only.

      Audio Visual Section

      • During film viewing activity pupils should be assisted by their teacher.

      Electronic Services

      • Pupils from grade four (4) to grade six (6) may borrow the Kindle reader for a maximum of one (1) hour, for library use-only. These materials cannot be borrowed for home use.

    2. Faculty

      Circulation and Professional Section

      • Teachers may borrow a maximum five (5) professional references for two weeks.
      • Teachers with overdue books in the library will not be allowed to borrow unless the books are returned.
      • Teachers should report lost books immediately to the librarian. A lost book must be replaced with exactly the same title or related subject field. . If a book is damage beyond normal usage, it must be replaced with the same title

      • Dictionaries, atlases and guidebooks may be borrowed by the teachers for classroom-use only. They cannot be borrowed for home use.

      Periodicals Section

      • Teachers may borrow journals or magazines for one week.

      Audiovisual Section

      • Teachers may borrow CD, VCD, DVD, and non-print materials for one week.
      • Teachers may borrow instructional materials classroom-use only. These materials cannot be borrowed for home use.
      • Reservation for film viewing activity should be a day before.


      Electronic Services

      • Teachers may borrow the Kindle reader for a maximum of one (1) hour for library use-only. These materials cannot be borrowed for home use.

  6. Guidelines in the Use of Multimedia/CD ROM Station
    • Users are not allowed to surf pornographic sites, play uneducational games, do word processing and nobody is allowed to download Chat Client Software.
    • Users should surrender/submit their Identification Card upon entering.
    • Usage is on a First-come, First-served basis.
    • Pupils who will do their research can use the room for a maximum of one (1) hour per use, while pupils who will play educational g ames can use the room for a maximum of fifteen (15) minutes.
    • Faculty and other employees of the school also have access if there are available computers to use. Pupils are in the priority list.
    • Downloading of information from the Internet and copying from the CD-ROMs are allowed. USB will be allowed for downloading or files can be sent through personal e-mails.
    • Users should proceed to their assigned workstations. Companions are not allowed. Violators will be asked to leave the room immediately.
    • Any student found engaging in any of these activities shall be charged as provision of the student’s handbook:
      • viewing pornographic pictures
      • tampering of information in the computers
      • theft and mishandling or abuse of equipment and materials.
    • The following are strictly prohibited in the Multimedia rooms:
      • eating, drinking
      • any form of discussion
    • Always ask the assistance of the designated personnel if you have any problem on using any of the services the Multimedia Section offers.
